A Fruit-Bearing Life In Jesus
What does it mean to “grow with a growth that is from God?”
In his New Testament letters, Paul says that phrase three times (1 Cor 3:6-7 & Col 2:19).
Really, though. What is a growth that is from God?!
Watch last Sunday sermon “Giving The Shoots The Life In Our Roots” from our Grafted In series
What would it look like to have a God-fueled growth in your spiritual life? In our church? In our community?
God longs for us to bear fruit.
He designed our Christian life to multiply, increase, and blossom into fullness:
“By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit” John 15:8.
But is fruit bearing just wishful-thinking?
Many of us get stuck, or discouraged. Our spiritual lives can feel more like a desert than a harvest.
And “calls to bear fruit” sound only like more work.
Remember, fruit bearing is an organic process:
Jesus says, “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you” John 15:16.
God planned and appointed you, our churches, our areas of influence, as places where He plans to bring fruit.
Jesus chose you.
He appointed you.
No one else may have wanted you for their team, but it wasn’t any different with His disciples.
It’s the Holy Spirit in and through us who pours fruit-bearing-life into our blood.
And our only role is to ask for fruit and to abide in Jesus.
Join us this Sunday as we’ll be diving deeper into Grafted In, considering The Roots of the tree-graft, and what it looks like to become “mamas and papas in the Faith.”
Let’s be praying and posturing for however God wants to move on Sunday!
