What a profound Sunday we shared together last week!

Isn’t it rewarding digging into Jesus’ teachings on “Seek Ye First”?

Simple. Profound. Jesus.

Watch last Sunday’s sermon “ Single Eye” from our Seek Ye First series

After preaching into the reality of “the eye being the lamp of the body” and “when your eye is healthy your body is full of light,” Keri, my wife, showed me these heart melting clips of babies who were partly or totally blind, then having their eyes open through the miracle of medicine.

They are vivid displays of what it’s like to have our eyes connected to our hearts.

And how when our eye is healthy, we literally become full of light (in this case the unutterable awe of seeing our parents face for the first time).

Check one or two these out:

Baby Seeing Parents for the First Time #1

Baby Seeing Parents for the First Time #2

Baby Seeing Parents for the First Time #3

These clips melt my heart because of the unfiltered reaction of joy that infants face at seeing the one they have known only in part.

I’m sure for each of us there is something profound to ponder here, but in regards to our relationship with God…

This is a beautiful illustration of our primal desire to be in relationship with God.

To set our eyes on Him is the most beautiful thing, it really is humanity’s deepest desire.

Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever….For me the nearness of God is my goodPsalm 73:25-26,28.

We will continue studying Seek Ye First- Treasuring the One Thing from Matthew 13:44-46 on Sunday, as we, as a church, cultivate our capacity to “Seek Ye First.”
