Disconnected Youth
I had an interesting conversation with an acquaintance the other day. He’s in his later 20’s, and moved to Santa Cruz just 6-8 months ago. He loves living in this town but is having a pretty tough time meeting people.
Can you imagine moving here during the pandemic?
Who would you connect with?
Where would you go to socialize?
I often think of how tough it is for our senior adults to function during this season of isolation. Their higher vulnerability to the disease and perhaps technological challenges make isolation even tougher for them.
But many seniors have a fairly healthy social circle intact to help with needs, connection and the like. Phone calls feel more natural than texting and zoom calls!
On the other hand, young adults and teenagers are setting their social circles in those formative years.
Let me encourage you to reach out to people. Phone calls, texts and even simple conversations when you are out can make such a big difference in people’s lives. I know some in our church have baked goods and delivered them to homes around town.
Ask the Lord to give you opportunities and people to have meaningful conversations with.
People are hungry for interaction and you all are great people to meet and know!
