In Expectancy, Exploring God
Dear High Street Family,
I am so excited to be stepping in as Interim Pastor this September; this church has been a refuge for so many, a place that has cultivated faithfulness, stepped into the uncomfortable, and trusted God through various seasons—and here we are at a new season.
What does God have for us now, in this time?
Where are we seeing His faithful hand already?
What questions remain as we walk forward?
What would it be like to share these things and this process with Him now?
You know, when I was receiving your commissioning prayers on Sunday, I felt the weight of hearts and eyes that had journeyed with me and Keri (and now Hope) through a variety of seasons. I sensed the anticipation and hunger in the room for what God has in store.
Like I said up front, I believe we’re in a season of momentum and God is doing something exciting in our lives and here at HSCC. He’s been building toward this time. He has purposes, dreams, and desires that include you, are about you, and will work through you.
Do you sense it too?
What would it look like for you to step into God’s momentum and strength in this season?
We have two amazing guest speakers coming up. This Sunday, Bill Fernald, who has deep roots and wisdom from years of service at Mount Hermon and is now with CCI (which he’ll be sharing about Sunday!), and next Ron Taylor who has served in ministry for years at Mount Hermon, Felton Bible, and now as a discerning Life Coach. Let’s anticipate how these two are going to speak uniquely to our church during this time.
Lastly, I want to say let’s be prayerful over the Explore God series, we’re joining with a lot of churches all over the Bay Area, saying, “God, expand and deepen your church!” And this is exciting because we get to get the hope of Jesus’ Life out to so many new faces. And those who are in the church, this is for you too—you get to explore God too—an exploration that is not just a mental ascent to belief statements, but an experience, where you explore in practice and entrust your living-out of the truths you’ve always believed. What would it be like if you explored God like this?
Let’s pray and agree, God move powerfully in your church and your people, those who are here and those yet to come!
