Finding Now

I have a confession.

I enjoy re-living and remembering past experiences…nostalgia is a friend of mine. I also enjoy wondering and strategizing for the future…dreaming is also a friend of mine.

So that means that sometimes I miss the present. It just passes by me headed into the nostalgia or forgotten files.

The present can be boring, predictable and mundane. It can also be scary, uncomfortable and unsafe. Sometimes both!

As believers and followers of Christ, our past is settled and our future is provided for and covered. It is our present that seems so very interesting with God.

I’m convinced and convicted that I need to spend more time, energy and thought in the present.

  • What is God up to right now?

  • What is going on in my heart right now?

  • Who is with me right now?

As you consider these questions, ask God to draw you into the present, in His presence and enjoy the abundant life He offers. What a ride! Talking about past adventures has value, as does looking forward to coming opportunities.

But how are you doing today, right now?
