Jesus’ own Spirit, inside of us
Last Sunday we considered God the Holy Spirit. Jesus’ own Spirit, inside of us now through faith. An incredible spot, scary and comforting…supernatural and yet it makes sense. As George taught later in the Equipping Hour, change and growth go together. God the Holy Spirit knows we need to grow and change and is just the person to lead it.
When Adam and Eve were in the Garden, they walked with God. Then, because of their acts of rebellion, they were separated from God. Ever since that separation, we see God reaching out to people…wanting no one to perish but all to come to repentance (II Peter 2:9).
He called out Abraham to be a people to be a conduit to bless the world. He chose Moses to lead those people into freedom and how to relate to a holy God. He used other prophets, kings, widows and shepherds to communicate His message of redemption.
He ultimately sent His own Son Jesus to not only communicate, but to literally make a way to repair our brokenness before God. Amazing! Jesus then left to return to the Father…but left His Holy Spirit to complete the work in and through us. We get to walk with God again.
God invites us into the adventure of restoring broken people. He invites us to say yes to the ongoing repair He desires to do in our lives…and invite others too.
The Holy Spirit is so good at changing us into the likeness of Christ. Just say yes and He will be with us in the difficult parts as well as the amazing parts. He energizes when we don’t have it in us to press onward. He confronts us in sadness, equips us as we are lacking and nudges us when we are fearful.
But you have to say “yes”. We have to lean in. We get to live in the Kingdom of God. Let’s walk with God.
