A Single Eye!
Dear High Street Family,
We interrupt this weekly digest to give you this public service announcement—our Sunday sermon was hijacked by pirates!!
They seemed ruthless, but these pirates actually gave us some great advice to navigate the new series and vision of Catching God’s Momentum – “No fear! Full trust! And a single eye!”
Watch the full shocking mutiny of last Sunday’s Sermon from Catching God’s Momentum series
This rascally crew beckoned us into “catching the wind” of the Holy Spirit!
And, as we’ll discover in the Catching God’s Momentum series, God’s new thing is unstoppable and powerful, but we must give ourselves to His momentum.
We must shift our priorities around His presence and heart.
In Isaiah 43:18-21, God invites us to “perceive” the “the new thing” as it "springs forth".
“Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert…to give drink to my chosen people, the people whom I formed for myself that they might declare my praise.”
God is initiating a movement, a flow of His river through the barren places, bringing life, resources, power, and presence to seemingly hard, impossible, or dry places.
Ultimately His heart is to bring abundance to His people in order to reveal His heart to the world.
But He wants us to perceive the new thing now.
Do you see it?
Are you sensing it?
As we asked on Sunday, “Where is the Life?”
When we stay with His presence and His peace, there is infinite power available.
And in that place, all our priorities begin to shift around His movement. We get life. We join the flow. Our hearts respond in gratefulness and adoration.
In church and in our own lives, we can be so busy maintaining status quo, upkeeping valuable things, and living in maintenance-mode, we slip into serving the “good things” and can miss the “Best Thing.”
“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.” (Psalm 16:11)
In this season at High Street, we have the special opportunity, the ripe moment, to turn afresh to this One, Jesus, who wants to bring His momentum through us, through our church, our ministries, our leadership, our prayers, our community…
Even now, let’s begin to soften a bit, open our hearts, begin to perceive the new even as it is just beginning.
Let’s prioritize His presence above every other thing.
See you Sunday,
Pastor Dave
