An Old Friend
As you already know, each week we will have a guest speaker on Sunday.
I’ve decided this year that instead of surprising you on Sunday that I would write a small introduction and reflection on each speaker before they come and preach.
They’ve all preached here before and done excellent work. I’m expectant of the Lord to use each one in your lives and the life of our church.
This week we have Sara Bentley!
Sara is a longtime friend of our family.
Maria was her small group leader when Sara was in high school and later was on our summer staff when I served at Mount Hermon.
Sara studied at UC Davis and then on to Fuller Seminary for her graduate degree in theology.
She is an excellent student—very sharp!
She’s also on the pastoral staff at Twin Lakes Church.
Sara is a gifted teacher, a caring shepherd and easy to be around. I believe we are the 3rd church in a row that she is serving as a guest preacher, so she’s in demand. :)
Sara is also a mom of two boys and the wife of Jeremy, who leads the program team at Mount Hermon.
She leads a full life, carrying a lot of responsibilities.
Yet whenever I run into Sara, she isn’t flustered, rushing from one thing to the next. Of course, she’ll probably deny all that! :)
As I think and pray for Sara, I have a few questions for you as well:
How do you handle a multitude of responsibilities in life?
Have you found a variety of roles in your day to day life to be energizing or debilitating?
Do you have a spiritual gift or two that you have put in focused effort to improve?
Enjoy Sara this Sunday as she brings God’s Word to our church community.
