A Good Friend
As you already know, each week we will have a guest speaker on Sunday.
I’ve decided this year that instead of surprising you on Sunday that I would write a small introduction and reflection on each speaker before they come and preach.
They’ve all preached here before and done excellent work. I’m expectant of the Lord to use each one in your lives and the life of our church.
This week we have Mike Romberger!
Mike is the President/CEO of Mount Hermon Association and a friend of mine.
He has served in that role for a number of years now after serving mostly in the church context as a pastor in the Denver area.
Mike has endured a number of difficulties while leading this important ministry.
During his time he has encountered significant financial challenges, spiritual obstacles, a major fire/evacuation, the pandemic (especially hard on retreat ministries like Mount Hermon) and a number of storms as well.
Leaders usually take on roles for the possibilities God has for their future, not the challenges!
Mike has stayed the course and been the right person at the right time following the right Savior.
As I think and pray for Mike, I have a few questions for you as well:
Have you ever been expected to lead during “the unexpected”? How did that feel?
What did you do right? What would you change?
Mike has also adapted from church ministry to camp ministry. What adaptations have you made in life (career, family, social?)?
Lastly, I’ve seen Mike throw his “whole self” into ministry leadership…what you see is what you get. Why don’t we all do that?
Enjoy Mike this Sunday as he brings God’s Word to our church community.
