EDGE & OASIS May Newsletter
It is already May, and I know a lot of students are counting down the days til summer vacation, which is well deserved after such a difficult school year. We have been extremely blessed to be able to walk through it with many of them as we spend time with them each week. Thank you for trusting us leaders at High Street to serve your students in this capacity, we hope and pray that their time spent in fun community, with positive role models, and time spent in worship and scripture makes a positive impact in their lives each week.
With the school year winding down to an end, we have got a lot of fun planned for the coming months!
We are still dialing in a complete summer schedule, so we do not have all the details yet. As a heads up, we will not be meeting on Tuesday/Wednesday nights during summer vacation. We will have scheduled events such as beach days, movie nights and different fun adventures - those details are to come. However, we do have details for some of the bigger events that will be happening this summer!
Oasis Kidder Creek Trip (6/27-7/3):
I have recently sent out an info email to all parents of students who expressed interest in this trip, so I don’t feel the need to repeat all that info in this email. If you did not receive that info email, but would like to please let me know and I will be happy to get it to you! We will be going to Kidder Creek for a week to backpack and whitewater raft in God’s beautiful creation.
This trip is for all high schoolers, including incoming freshmen. It also is not limited to students that attend Oasis every week, so if you have someone in mind that is in high school and might enjoy being a part of this trip, please pass on the info! We will have Kidder Creek waivers soon, as well as a due date for those, so stay tuned.
Oasis Campout (6/9-6/11):
The relationships and community built as a result of youth group trips is invaluable. So, we have been thinking of ways to makeup for the lost opportunities of trips/retreats for students throughout the past year, and decided to plan a local campout for high schoolers at the start of summer! With so many different difficult circumstances, our goal is to make this trip as doable as possible for students both location wise and financially. We have reserved two campsites (one for guys and one for girls) at Manresa State Beach.
We plan to relax on the beach, play games, and have some devotional time around the campfire. This is a popular surfing destination - so students may ask about surfing on this trip; however, for multiple reasons I do not feel comfortable with students surfing here under my supervision. But there will be plenty of other fun to be had!
Students can arrive at 2:00PM on 6/9, and will need to be picked up at 11:00PM on 6/11. We have limited parking spaces, so students will need to be dropped off and picked up. The cost for this trip is $45/student. We will be preparing group meals with gloves and masks, and students will need to sleep in their own tents, or with others from the same household. I will be handing out waivers for this at youth group, which will be due along with $45 on June 30th.
Those are the big updates we have to share for this month, and we are looking forward to one more month of normal meeting times for Edge and Oasis before we dive into a fun filled summer. Please check out the calendar abobe.
