Things You Won’t Want to Miss

I want to tell you about special Sundays we have coming up in the next few weeks that I hope you’ll be able to attend and participate in.

These are really important to the life and health of our church as we look to the Lord to fortify our church in studying the book of Nehemiah together.

In step with the story of Nehemiah as it unfolds chapter by chapter, I’d like for us to experience some of the same things they did in their rebuilding process. A time of recognition and a time of confession.

All-Church Potluck & Awards Ceremony

July 18th is set apart for us to have an all-church potluck. At this point we are planning to have the meal in the sanctuary, seated in our round tables.

I’m wondering if we can put the food tables in the Fireside Room and ask everyone to load up their plates (do we really have to ask?) and carefully bring them into the sanctuary to eat together.

We are preparing for this to be a special time of recognition of the many people who have served and participated during these past months of opportunity and challenge in Covid.

So, we are going to have an awards ceremony! We will come up with some silly awards, tell some good stories and basically thank one another in the Lord’s and one another’s presence. Nehemiah recognized people in chapter 7, so let’s follow that example.

A Good Confession

Sharing Authentic Stories of our Church

On August 1st, during the worship service, I’d like for us to focus on the history of our church. Nehemiah 9 is a chapter where the people looked back on both their successes and failurespraising God together for His provision and confessing mistakes made together too.

I envision some of you sharing some of our traditions, memories, high points and yes even some low points. I’ve spoken with some of you about this already, but we have room for more.

Do you have a memory from our early years (the first 20 years of the church)? How about during the 80’s, 90’s and early 2000’s? We also want to reflect on recent years too. Nehemiah found it important to look back in order to move forward. What has God done in and through our church? I’ll share more in the coming weeks, but I want to get your hearts and minds prompted now.

I’m looking forward to these two Sundays with all of you.

Invite others to be present with us in these important events.

May God be lifted up!
