After A Week of Study Leave
I had the privilege of worshipping at home the last two Sundays as I was on Study Leave. First of all let me express my sincere gratitude to:
Kyle Pitchford 2/28, and
For their effective preaching.
They ministered to me as well as our church and beyond with their careful, heartfelt teaching. I take preaching seriously as do all of our guest speakers. It is healthy for us to hear God’s truth through a variety of voices and perspectives.
Second, I really liked the convenience and comfort of worshipping at home. Maria and I were relaxed, free to talk, sing, sit silently and participate. It is fun to see people leave comments on the Facebook broadcast and know that others are worshipping together in spite of our physical separation. It was a good feeling to see our worship service go forward without our participation at all. What a great team we have.
Third, I also missed being in the sanctuary with our team and those that choose to worship in the sanctuary and outside. We all know there is something really good about being together in worship and then followed by conversation. Admittedly broadcasting a service is a lot of work, but there is an added spark to sharing what the Lord is doing in a room with people all over the map. Everyone breathes a sigh of relief and accomplishment when the service finishes and all the tech seemed to work.
My point?
I believe our church can leverage both in-person and digital audiences as we go forward.
I look forward to enjoying more and more of you in the sanctuary together as gathering safely increases. I also like that we are reaching people that can’t or don’t feel comfortable walking into a church service. They can “taste and see” online as part of God’s process of drawing them to Himself.
Invite is key value of our church, and inviting has never been easier…even as so many things have been harder. Isn’t that great?
