Dear HSCC Family,

As you can see from the attached photo, I couldn’t resist going to Yosemite with my good friend Ron Taylor.  We put in a little effort (4:30am departure from Santa Cruz and 8 mile cross-country ski trek) in order to be immersed in God’s beauty and enjoy our friendship.   Cashing in on the promise in James…put in a little effort and He meets you.

Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.    James 4:8a

As I shared on Sunday, Yosemite Valley is a sacred place where one can experience some of the Father’s best work as the Artist.  The solid granite rocks remind me of God’s steadfast faithfulness to generations.  The grandeur is breathtaking.  I feel small—in a good way. Reverence oddly combines with intimacy in approaching the Father here.

I hope you get a chance this week To get outside, get into the Scriptures and get with one another…and worship the Father who was, is and will be.

Pastor Danny

ANNOUNCEMENTS

5th Sunday Service-this Sunday January 29th-9:30am

Come join us this Sunday at 9:30 in the ACE building for a rare opportunity to hear from international students at UCSC from Nigeria, Madagascar, and South Korea, and a practicing missionary, Silas Khadka, working in Nepal and Myanmar with Child Hope International, to learn about their experiences, their faith, and how we may come alongside them. This is a rare opportunity to hear about the kingdom of God from so many parts of the world and to meet people from those nations. A special thank you goes to Peggy Pollard with ISI for her work welcoming the students. There will be discussion, questions, and perhaps some answers! Coffee, tea, and brunch items will be deliciously provided.

Upcoming potluck-February 19th- 11am

Please join us for our always savory, and sweet, potluck after church service during Equipping Hour at 11am on February 19th in the ACE building downstairs behind the sanctuary. All ages are welcome, and encouraged to bring family, friends and neighbors… and a little extra food for those who forgot:)
