Office Changes, Bible Still the Same

What a gift to dig into the Scriptures this last Sunday and remember together why we trust this book called the Bible!

During the sermon on Sunday, it was amazing to look out across the sea of faces and note so many of you and your history with the Lord and with His Word. Isn’t it amazing that He speaks to us at all? And that we’re caught up together in this historical restorative Love of God, even here at HSCC!

  • What stood out to you about the Scriptures this last Sunday?

  • How did the Word of God nudge you?

  • What would it look like for you to find rest in trusting the God who reveals Himself, even in the current season your in?

  • What might it look like to meet with God, your Father, even today and hear from Him, His history with us, and His Spirit with you now?

I encourage you to take some time this week, dig in, open your heart again to His Word, and see how He shows up in your time together.

An Interview with Cori

1. How did you first get connected with High Street?

My husband Jeff says that I am "connected at the umbilical cord :)" I was one of the first babies in the nursery here on High Street, and grew up here, as my parents Ray and Sandy Bergen were one of the couples that helped start this church.

2. What's one thing you love about this church?

I love the people, a very strong community of folks rooted in relationship with the Lord and with each other, that can laugh at ourselves while deepening our desires to know God better together.

Prayer is a glue that holds us all together, a very eclectic and multi-generational group that live all over the county but have intentionally found ways to stay connected through thick and thin. We have so many strong pastors and leaders in our small congregation who are committed to their faith and their service both here and in the community.

3. What's something we don't know about you?

Though I think I'm a pretty open book, some people may not know that I was married at 18, and we had 3 children in 3 1/2 years, that I went back to school at Cabrillo and then UCSC graduating when my youngest was in 3rd grade. I worked in Special Education for a few years, and then Advocacy and parent education for 20 years at a Family Resource Center.

We now have grown kids and 3 grandchildren who are 5, 3 and 2 years old,  and love photos and videos of them! We are on Facetime one or more of them almost daily. I also love seeing other people kids and grandkids and their photos and videos, and funny stories.

4. What's one prayer or hope you have for your position at HSCC?

My prayer is that I am sensitive to the Holy Spirit's leading, encouraging others, holding others up in prayer and support, and using the gifts and knowledge the Lord has provided to me and continues to provide daily.

I hope and pray that Danny and Dave's loads are lightened, that the congregation finds more ease in having another person in the office, and that people will reach out for help and support when needed. I plan to be a good connector.
