More Than A Potluck

Hello HSCC, a quick “thank you” for this past Sunday. What a great time we had.

  • The potluck food was so tasty and plentiful

  • The baptism was joyful

  • The worship was heartfelt

  • The fortified awards were silly yet meaningful

  • And simply put…it was great to be together again.

As I’ve mentioned before, one of my favorite scenes in our church is a packed ACE room potluck with lively, meaningful, intergenerational connection.

This past Sunday I not only saw that scene in our sanctuary, I also witnessed true encouragement and affirmation of one another. Leader after leader stood up front and thanked, acknowledged and rewarded people on their teams for their sacrificial service.

It was especially meaningful because we have had to go above and beyond during this pandemic. None of us are serving for the recognition, and at some level we are all just really trying to follow the Lord’s example.

I believe the Lord enjoyed our time the most.

He loves to see His children together, experiencing His blessings and loving one another.

"The joy of the Lord is our strength"…be strengthened today and in all of our tomorrows as we follow the Lord together.

This day is holy to the Lord your God; do not mourn or weep....Go your way. Eat the fat and drink sweet wine and send portions to anyone who has nothing ready, for this day is holy to our Lord. And do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.
— Nehemiah 8:9-10
