“Oh Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it!  How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing!”  Luke 13:34

Dear HSCC Family,

This morning I watched our local "turkey-mom” walk by our house on the hillside with her 8 chicks peeping, running and pecking alongside her.  It brought to mind the scripture above where Jesus shared his protecting/providing/guiding heart toward the people of Jerusalem…

But I had another thought come to mind as I watched them amble deeper into the forest.  This was a picture of the church!  Jesus is our head, Chief Shepherd of the Church and we run around Him, learning to be like our leader.   The whole process looks chaotic but even though the chicks were all doing different things in different directions/speeds/abilities, they ultimately were going together.

When we are at our best as a church, we look like that.  Everyone following the leader, in different ways, doing different things, checking in with peeps and squawks as we keep our eyes on the Leader.  The turkey mom was more than able to guide in the right direction, provide the best area for food and protect from predators and other dangers.

Enjoy the ride church!  Jesus cares for you deeply and will raise us into maturity.
“And I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ”  Phil 1:6
