Dear HSCC,

This Sunday we have “5th Sunday Serve”.  We come together to worship the Lord, like every Sunday morning, but in this case we worship with service.  Some of you will come and join our service through prayer support.  We are literally the hands and feet of Jesus…the Body of Christ.  What would Jesus do on earth today if he were in Santa Cruz?  He might head down to Pajaro and see if he can help some of those people.

To Clarify—This Sunday—there are 2 options…

1. Come to church like normal at 9:30am and expect to pray for those serving in Pajaro.

OR

2. Meet at 9:00am at 1012 Mission Street to orient/carpool/organize and then head down to Pajaro/Watsonville.  We are meeting at the Western Service Workers Association Headquarters.  Josh will direct us from there.

If you are going to serve in Pajaro, wear grubby clothes, facemask, gloves, hats and the like.  Tools like shovels, brooms, trash bags, wheel barrows, cleaning supplies, rakes etc… will be helpful in cleaning up after flooding a home and yard.  Some will instead hand out supplies and another group will help with advocacy work (for grants/FEMA help).  We plan to be with this group from 9am until 1pm.  Bring water/snacks and grab lunch on the way home if you’d like.

This is a Luke 17:10 opportunity for us.  “So you also, when you have done all that you were commanded, say, ‘We are unworthy servants, we have only done what was our duty’”.  As children of God we serve in humility and gratitude.  See you Sunday.  Any questions, email Danny@hscchurch.org or text/call me at (831) 335-5105 and I’ll try and help you out.

I pray that the Lord blesses our small contribution in grand fashion.  Join me in that prayer this week.

Pastor Danny
