Musings on the Churches in Ephesus

Hello Church,

I want to challenge us as we venture into the study of the letters to the Ephesians.  Simply put: I’d like you to pre-read the first passages we will be preaching on each week AND come prepared to share some of your questions, answers, observations and wonderings. Please read the first 3 chapters of Ephesians this week to prepare for the sermon in general and the Equipping Hour specifically.

But Why??  What has prompted such a request you ask??

Answer:  Good Friday and Easter Morning…  In step with our practice on Good Friday, members of our church carried the responsibility of teaching 5 minutes on a specific saying of Jesus in his last hours.  The teaching was wonderful, unique to each person and beneficial for the church.  I was struck that we need more opportunities to share with one another

Easter morning we had Daniel Burchell serve as the Service Host.  Daniel did a great job of welcoming, praying and reading scripture and announcements.  But the best thing he did was some musing.  He wondered aloud a question about Jesus’ anointing with fine perfume and the later results of that experience.  His wondering invited all of us into considering possibilities and ramifications of that experience.  I loved it and saw it as good for our church.

During the Equipping Hour I’ll explain this further.  My hope is that we will have some good questions, answers, creative ideas shared around the tables and with the whole room.  There is a lot for us to see in the correspondence with the Ephesian Churches.  Get excited!

Pastor Danny
