Remember The Least, Remember The Nations
Dear High Street Family,
My name is Eriq Truitt-Reed and I am so excited to be worshiping with you this Sunday. And as I was reflected on the past couple months for myself and praying for our time together, I felt stirred to remind us that our God and our Saviour is a God of all nations and for all peoples.
Jesus reminds us that the way we respond to “the least of these” matters to Him(Matthew 25:40). The Kingdom of God has always had a particular concern for those who are overlooked, forgotten, and pushed to the margins.
But God’s heart is bigger than our immediate surroundings. From the promise to Abraham that “all peoples on earth will be blessed through you”(Genesis 12:3), to Jesus’ command to “make disciples of all nations”(Matthew 28:19), Scripture continually pulls our eyes outward.
We remember the least of thesebecause they matter to Jesus. And we remember the nationsbecause they matter to Jesus.
So let’s refuse to let familiarity shrink our compassion. Let’s see the person in front of us—and the peoples beyond us—as those whom God desires to redeem, restore, and bring into His Kingdom (Revelation 7:9).
Remember the least. Remember the nations. Remember that the heart of God is to reach and embrace the many.
In Him,
Eriq
