Dear Church Family,

What a great Sunday we had last week!  God was worshipped well and He blessed our offerings in many ways.  Let me recall a few…

1.  Such great participation from many people: Janet was again a fantastic teacher (and performer) in the sermon, Frank led us well as service host, Joe’s worship song selection and leading were spot on as usual, Jeff’s window into one of our missionaries was inspiring, Dave and Jenni’s sharing on anointing oils of the bible were so helpful, I loved co-preaching the Peaceful Woman and of course our tech team, welcoming team, coffee, video, etc…all exceptional.

2.  People brought food anyway (sorry for the miscommunication) but it was better because of it.  It appeared that no one left the room for nearly an hour after the official end of the service. I’ve often said you can tell the warmth of a church by how fast people leave when it is over.  The round tables and food help us connect with one another.  Remember, you only are supposed to bring food on potluck weeks…but I won’t stop anyone from bringing snacks to the communion table on off weeks…we will enjoy it.  Just don’t ever feel you need to bring food, only that you get to if you want to.

3.  The room was pretty full, even at the start of the service.  We have had friends come the past few weeks and it has been easy to welcome them in to meet new people, feel comfortable at a table and enjoy the whole experience. Thank you for coming, interacting and being the church to both those who call our church “home” and those who are still finding their way back home.

Mega Picnic this Sunday:

1.  Bring yourself, a friend and some taco toppings.  We will provide the tortillas (flour and corn), ice water, and some watermelons…  Be creative (I hope a few people bring fish sticks to fit the bible passage—we can skip the rock hard barley rolls), and bring items like lettuce, onions, meats, salsa, AVOCADOS, chips, sauces, etc…  One item per person or multiple if you’d like.  If the 5000 are “satisfied” with just bread and fish we should be fine with whatever combinations we come up with in a tortilla.  :)

2.  Bring a blanket, beach chair (you can grab a chair at church if you’d prefer), hat (from sunshine), and of course comfortable picnic clothes.  We will be worshiping outside on the lawn in front of the office.

3.  Bring a few picnic games to enjoy after the meal.  I’ll bring disc golf, and a 3 legged race, does someone have corn hole?  etc…

4.  We will have communion at the end of our time together, in the sanctuary.  Jesus supplies bread in this story and just afterwards teaches that He is the bread of life.  We will pause from the fun of a picnic and move to the reverence of communion in the sanctuary around 11 or 11:30.

See you on Sunday!

Danny
